Okay, so let me list some of the the things Ive experienced, mostly from the mid 1960s through 1975. Its been pretty quiet since then, seems my children catch an occasional glimpse of a UFO or the mysterious men in black but as far as me, I'm pretty well alien free for the last couple of decades. As far as i know.
When this all started our family only consisted of me, my mother, my father and my sister. A younger sister would be born shortly after the aliens started coming and a baby brother would be born pretty much after things were over. The day before alien contact our family was not much different than any other mid 1960s family, dad worked and mom took care of the house and kids. There was a black and white TV and plenty of time for playing outside of the house. Kids today wouldn't understand the wonderful simplicity which was to be a child of the 60s.
Then with no warning there were several things "alien"going on, all occurring at about the same time, some during the day, others at night. The exact sequence of events I'm not sure about as everything seemed to start all at once and lasted on and off for several years.
Neither of my parents readily accepted the things that were going on, my father refused to talk about them and said they should be ignored, although i did get him to talk a little a couple years before he died, a very little. And my mother to this day swears we were being attacked by demons.
The aliens entered our lives around 1965 when i was four years old, and the last time i saw them was on August 4, 1975, while out walking my dog along the Susquehanna river.
In the beginning there were several daytime visits by a grey alien. The exact number of visits I'm not sure, but it was at least three or four. He would show up at pretty much the same time of day, right after breakfast while my mother was cleaning up the kitchen and my sister was playing in her room. I would be sitting on the living room floor in front of the TV watching my favorite cartoons and of course, Captain Kangaroo.
So this is where it starts getting weird. One day while watching TV I had the thought that someone was looking at me through the living room window, which from my position was situated over my right shoulder, but when i turned, no one was there. Although I thought i had caught a brief glimpse of something or someone moving down out of view very, very quickly. I kept getting this odd feeling every few minutes and I kept looking and seeing nothing but a quick blur. I was getting annoyed at this distraction as it was taking my concentration off of my cartoons.
I finally figured it must be a couple of my neighborhood friends, one climbing onto the others shoulders to get high enough to look into the living room window and then jumping down when he saw me start to turn and look.
After a while i went over to the window and looked down expecting to see my friends on the ground scurrying to get away. But again i saw nothing. The only explanation i thought of was that my friends were hiding behind the tall hedgerow that separated our yard from the neighbors. This hedge was no more than a few yards from our house. Although you could pretty much see through its thin branches it was the only place i could think of that my amazingly quick friends could be hiding.
There was in my youthful estimation only one thing to do, it was an act of total defiance, something for which i had suffered several slaps in the face from both parents at different times. I did what any four year old boy would do when faced with such circumstances. I stuck out my tongue.
I thought for sure this would elicit a response from whoever was hiding outside. when no one came rushing out of the bushes threatening to tell my mother what i was doing, i thought that a little more irritation was needed. I stuck my tongue out and left it out, looking back and forth so anyone outside could see that i was defiantly giving them the raspberry's. When nothing happened then, i took to sticking my tongue in and out over and over again. I was feeling really defiant knowing i was safe inside behind the window and anyone outside was getting the rasp-berrying of a lifetime. Thats when it happened.
It was like an invisible window shade had been pulled up very quickly, The phrase that it "popped" into view is pretty close to what i saw. but it was definitely a bottom to up "pop". This was the sixties and the word alien wasn't being used yet, the word then was martian, and everyone knew martians were green and had antenna on their heads. So this was not a martian, it wasn't green and lacked the telltale antenna. What i saw made me freeze in my tracks, totally shocked.
What looked back at me from the other other side of the window, no more than a few feet away was what we now call a gray alien. Again, I didn't have the vocabulary to explain what I was seeing and it would be many years before i did. It stood there looking directly at me with unblinking black eyes, its nose was no more than a bump with two small holes. I thought it was shaped like a dogs nose, and its face was long and narrow. I didnt notice its mouth.
I remember wondering if it was mad at me since i had stuck my tongue out at it because it looked "mad". I stood there frozen in place, just looking into its eyes, waiting to see what it would do next. Remarkably, it did nothing. we stared at each other for several seconds, i was taking in as much as i could about what it looked like, what it was wearing, taking in as much as a young kid that had no idea what he was seeing could. My head was spinning and all the while my fear was growing.
The alien was wearing a red shirt, i called it a vest back then, although i don't remember exactly what it looked like today, ill believe my four year old self and say it was designed like a vest. On this vest i saw an emblem, the emblem i remember vividly, I wont describe this emblem as i am waiting to see if anyone else has seen the same thing.
I was both amazed by what i was seeing and scared half to death, after several seconds I decided I needed my mother to come and see this, and to also give me an adult to hide behind. I then let out a scream for my mother as loud as i could. As i inhaled air in preparation for my scream, the alien "popped" out, again it looked like an invisible shade had been pulled down in front of him and he disappeared in an instant from the top down. My mother ran in and looked out the window but of course saw nothing.
This was the first of several encounters at the window. The encounters were weeks and sometimes months apart. Each time i would feel watched, catch a blur in the window and go stick out my tongue, he would pop in. I think maybe he was curious as to how i knew he was there. I'm just guessing about that.
After two or three encounters i found that if i stayed perfectly still and didn't move, the alien would stay in the window longer and we would just stare at each other, but if i moved even a little he would pop out. My younger sister and i had a game we played called the blinking game, we would stare at each other to see who would blink first. One time i actually thought this alien was playing a blinking game with me, as he never blinked, and i tried to out-stare him. didn't work. I'm tellin ya, you cant make stuff like that up.
How come things are so quiet these days? I think our government has sent them a msg to stay away or they Will be kot
